Employing a large workforce across a significant operational footprint are looking for a degree qualified Employee Relations Business Partner to join their dynamic, highly commercial team in a high profile and fast paced business environment.

About the Role

The role is varied, with a strong breadth and depth of responsibilities, a combination of general workplace relation advisory work, litigation, industrial 
relations and reform. You will provide legal advice across the enterprise, in respect of technical legal matters, as well as in respect of investigations, disciplinary processes, terminations and harassment matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting on behalf of the enterprise in unfair dismissals, union disputes, general protections’ conciliations, discrimination matters in the Human Rights Commission, and otherwise briefing and instructing external counsel
  • Lead and resolve the industrial relations and employee relations risks arising from restructuring, redundancies and redeployment within organisation and its subsidiaries, including union consultation, disputation and litigation
  • Enterprise agreement interpretation and negotiation
  • Provision of coaching and oversight for People & Culture case managers in the context of workplace investigations, as well as approval of show cause correspondence and termination letters
  • Provide advice and support to HRBPs, including in respect of business closures and redundancies
  • Legal projects, including divestments, and compliance work in respect of Award application and interpretation, as well as payroll remediation work. 
About You
  • Sound experience in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations or case management
  • Law degree is essential
  • Proven ability to coach and support employees and line managers
  • Experience interpreting and advising on the Fair Work Act and Enterprise Agreements
  • Strong communication skills, stakeholder management and relationship building skills are important as is a commercial orientation
  • Effective time management and the ability to manage a number of competing priorities and time sensitive cases
