About the Role

The Industrial Relations Specialist is responsible for leading and project managing all change related projects including restructures and organisational reviews. This includes providing the P&P BP team with guidance on process steps, information on legislative requirements and templates for employee and union correspondence.  
  
The IR Specialist needs to be a fountain of knowledge and a source of support not only for the business but for the P&P team also. A primary responsibility is to manage industrial risk and an ability to gauge and pre-empt union responses and in turn advise on potential response options for the business.  
  
The role may also require an element of Employee Relations regarding investigations and complex cases work where more specialised assistance is needed.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project management of EA negotiations & assist the EGM in negotiation meetings. Drafting EA clauses where needed and conversing with the union.
  • Assist the EGM with organisational structures and restructures. 
  • Own the annual salary review and BOOT assessment processes
  • Responsibility for all unfair dismissal applications – preparation of paperwork & representation in conciliations 
  • Upskill managers, supervisors and the P&P team in the areas of ER and IR.
  • Build strong working relationships with key union representatives
About You  
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of generalist HR experience in a blue-collar environment 
  • Minimum of 5 years in an employee relations/industrial relations position OR minimum of 5 years in an HR position exposed to high volume ER cases & union activity
  • Experience assisting in enterprise bargaining negotiations and drafting of agreement clauses. 
  • Experience in unfair dismissal preparation and representation in FW conciliations
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the business. 
  • Tertiary Qualification in Human Resources or Industrial Relations
