As the business continues to grow, they are seeking an HR specialist to play an integral role within the team—helping to mature the HR function and shape the future people strategy.
About the Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Directors, this newly created role sits within the leadership team and will have the opportunity to design and develop the People & Culture agenda across the business, owning both strategy and execution. It is a senior, influential role that will straddle strategy with day-to-day operational involvement, supporting a workforce of 200, geographically dispersed.
You will work closely and build relationships with each of the leaders in the regions and directors, to understand current and future business needs, then translate that into a practical HR plan including: recruitment, leadership capability, performance frameworks, Systems and reporting. Supported by one direct report, the role will evolve over time as the function matures and embeds, and the needs change.
Key areas of focus include:
- Partnering with leaders on workforce planning and organisational growth
- Design and implement scalable recruitment strategies, onboarding and induction programs
- Develop frameworks for training and development, and long-term succession
- Develop and imbed - Vision, Values, EVP supported by consistent internal communications
- Ensuring compliance across HR policies, systems, rem and reward and payroll and employee relations.
- Supporting and reinforcing a positive safety and accountability culture across both site and corporate teams.
You are an experienced HR leader who combines commercial thinking with a practical and approachable leadership style. You are genuine, passionate and creative, you enjoy planning and being hands-on, and prefer a smaller, less corporate environment that you are truly part of.
You bring strong experience across people strategy, particularly in talent attraction, development, succession and retention. You have experience working in greenfield environments, where you have built a a fit for purpose HR service model, met people where they are at, and brought them on the journey, of how HR can support and enable business.
This role offers the opportunity to build and embed a People & Culture function, making it well suited to someone who enjoys creating structure, capability, and impact in evolving organisations.
You will also bring:
- Proven experience in a senior People & Culture role, in small to medium business
- The ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of employment legislation, industrial relations and Awards
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed or site-based workforces
- A hands-on, roll up your sleeves approach
- Strong communication, coaching and leadership capability
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business or a related discipline
- Experience in construction or project based working environment valued.
