Head of People and Culture

Work Type:

Location:

Sydney - NSW

  • Heavy hands on generalist role
  • Lead a small HR team with lots of potential
  • Transformation role
Are you an experienced People & Culture leader ready to make a genuine, long-term impact?

This is a rare opportunity to join a rapidly scaling, multi-site organisation that has recently undergone significant transformation and is now well positioned for its next phase of growth.

With approximately 600 employees across multiple brands and locations, the business has successfully transitioned from a traditional, paper-based HR model to a centralised, digitally enabled People & Culture function. Strong foundations are now in place, creating an exciting platform to further embed capability, culture and best practice.

About the Role
Reporting to the COO, you will lead a small, high-potential People & Culture team and continue the shift from a reactive, operational model to a proactive, commercially aligned function. Your remit will be broad and influential, spanning strategy, workforce planning, HR technology, culture and engagement, industrial relations and compliance.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and executing the People & Culture strategy aligned to business objectives
  • Advising on organisational design, succession planning and capability uplift
  • Leading annual workforce planning and talent review processes
  • Owning the HR technology roadmap, including HRIS, payroll integration and LMS
  • Overseeing leadership capability programs and internal development pathways
  • Providing senior-level advice on IR strategy, awards and compliance
  • Managing complex employee relations matters, investigations and Fair Work interactions
About You
You are a seasoned, hands-on People & Culture leader with experience in large, complex, operational or blue-collar environments (e.g. automotive, manufacturing, logistics or trades). Automotive experience will be highly regarded.

You are comfortable leading and developing a small HR team while partnering closely with operational leaders who rely heavily on practical, commercially sound advice. You will have a proven track record of building or scaling HR functions, embedding systems, uplifting leadership capability and successfully leading change.

Critically, you are equally comfortable operating at a strategic level and rolling up your sleeves when required, able to move seamlessly between long-term planning and day-to-day coaching and problem-solving.

This role is based in South West Sydney and requires a full-time onsite presence, with flexibility to work from other business locations during the week.
An attractive salary package is on offer, including a fully serviced vehicle
