This opportunity supports one of their established open cut operations in Regional Queensland — a high-performing site with an experienced leadership team, stable workforce and strong site culture. The operation is well regarded for its collaborative environment, pragmatic leadership approach and consistent operational performance.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Operations Manager/SSE, this role forms part of the site leadership team and provides broad exposure across operational HR, employee relations and workforce support within a mining environment. Residential or DIDO from Townsville, Mackay or Whitsundays.
This is a hands-on HR leadership role supporting a workforce of approximately 400 employees. The role works closely with site leaders across day-to-day operational matters, leadership support, workforce planning and ER/IR activities.
The environment is practical, fast paced and relationship driven. The business operates with a lean structure, so the role suits someone who enjoys being close to operations, building trusted relationships and working across a broad range of HR activities.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Coaching and supporting frontline and senior leaders
- Employee and industrial relations support and case management
- Performance and conduct support
- Workforce engagement initiatives & reporting
- Supporting leadership capability and team effectiveness, managing a small team
You will likely have experience in operational/Industrial HR environments (ideally mining) and be comfortable working closely with leaders across a broad range of workforce matters. Experience within regional environments. FIFO/DIDO cultures would be desired. This role needs an experience HR Generalist skills set, a practical approach, and an ability to work closely with operations to ensure site performance, as well as leading on any wider group initiatives at this site.
