A fast-growing renewable energy developer and operator is seeking an experienced HR Manager to step into a critical role within its Australian business. This is an urgent replacement hire supporting a high-growth division of an international clean energy and infrastructure group. With approximately 40 employees in Australia, the business remains lean, agile and entrepreneurial, but its project portfolio is expanding rapidly. Backed by a global investment and asset management group with deep expertise across energy transition, digital infrastructure and sustainable real assets, the organisation is entering an exciting phase of growth.
About the Role:
This is a true end-to-end HR role where you’ll have ownership across all people operations in Australia. Reporting directly to the local CEO, with a dotted line into the global HR function, you’ll be the go-to person for all things HR while helping build the foundations needed to support future growth.
This role is highly operational and will suit someone who enjoys being close to the business and rolling up their sleeves. You’ll oversee Australian payroll end-to-end, partnering with external providers and internal finance teams to ensure accuracy, compliance and timely processing across superannuation, leave, reporting and statutory obligations. You’ll also manage HR systems, employee records and day-to-day HR administration.
Partnering closely with leaders, you’ll support ongoing recruitment activity across the business, helping define role requirements, coordinate hiring processes, manage agencies where required and ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new employees.
You’ll manage the full employee lifecycle including probation reviews, role changes, offboarding and general employee support, while also assisting leaders with performance matters and annual review processes.
As the organisation continues to grow, you’ll contribute to initiatives that strengthen culture, engagement and employee experience. You’ll help create a positive workplace environment while supporting internal events and broader people initiatives. You’ll also ensure HR practices align with Australian employment legislation and internal policy frameworks, providing first-line advice on employee relations matters and supporting workplace health and safety initiatives where required.
A key focus of the role will be improving systems, processes and scalability. You’ll identify opportunities to create efficiencies across payroll, onboarding, reporting and HR operations as the business continues to expand. You are likely an experienced HR generalist who brings strong Australian payroll expertise and enjoys working in lean, fast-paced environments such as start-ups, scale-ups or project-based organisations. You’re practical, hands-on and comfortable operating without significant structure, while still bringing strong attention to detail and the confidence to partner directly with senior leaders.
You will ideally bring:
- 8–12 years’ HR experience with strong payroll ownership in Australia
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and compliance requirements
- A hands-on, solutions-focused approach
- Experience improving systems and processes
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a growing business
- Experience within energy, infrastructure or technical industries will be highly regarded but is not essential
