Our client is a large, complex and values‑driven organisation operating in a regulated and unionised environment. They partner closely with stakeholders to deliver essential services, with a strong focus on safety, engagement and operational excellence. This opportunity supports a sizeable onsite workforce of approximately 250 employees.
  
About the role
This is a true HR generalist opportunity covering end‑to‑end people delivery at site level. Reporting to a Sydney based HR leader, you will partner closely with senior managers to drive a high performing and safe workplace culture.
Key responsibilities include
  • Providing timely, practical HR advice across employee relations, industrial relations and performance management
  • Managing local IR matters including union engagement, award interpretation and compliance
  • Supporting and leading workplace investigations and complaint management
  • Overseeing onsite recruitment in partnership with a central recruitment function
  • Coaching leaders to lift capability, engagement and accountability
  • Driving employee engagement and retention initiatives
  • Supporting learning and development and talent pipeline activities
  • Partnering with leaders to improve operational standards and commercial outcomes
  • Championing safety, wellbeing and environmental initiatives on site
This is a hands‑on role requiring strong presence, sound judgement and the confidence to operate autonomously in a fast paced environment.

About you
You are an experienced HR Manager or HR Business Partner who enjoys being close to the business and building trusted relationships onsite.
You will bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Employment Relations
  • Strong generalist HR experience within a complex or unionised environment
  • Solid working knowledge of awards, agreements and Australian workplace legislation
  • Confidence managing IR issues, performance matters and investigations
  • Experience supporting recruitment and workforce planning at site level
  • A practical, resilient and commercially minded approach
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • A genuine commitment to safety, inclusion and positive workplace culture
