About them
This organisation operates within the construction and engineering sector and is currently progressing a large scale transformation, including the consolidation of payroll and shared services under a broader group structure. During this period, multiple payroll teams and systems continue to operate independently.

About the role
An immediate interim opportunity has arisen to provide senior leadership across a large, high volume payroll function due to an unexpected absence. This is a contract opportunity of approximately 3 to 4 months, with an ASAP start.
You will act as a key point of leadership and support across a payroll team of approximately 50 to 55 people, covering multiple payrolls with differing pay cycles, EBAs and operational requirements. The workforce is predominantly blue collar and paid across varied cycles, including out of cycle processing.
This role will focus on providing day to day leadership, guidance and stability, supporting payroll operations across several business units and systems. You will assist with triaging complex payroll queries, advising team leaders and managers and ensuring consistent decision making across the function. The role will remain flexible as team needs evolve.

About you

Key experience includes:
  • Leadership of large payroll teams supporting blue collar workforces
  • Strong EBA knowledge and exposure to multiple pay cycles and rates
  • Background in construction, engineering or similarly complex operational environments such as hospitality
  • Ability to confidently handle escalations and technical payroll queries
  • A practical, hands on leadership approach with the ability to quickly build credibility
This opportunity is ideal for someone who can step in quickly, add immediate value and provide experienced payroll leadership in a fast moving environment.
