About the Role
A new opportunity exists for a People Compliance Lead to join the wider People & Culture team at a leading medical business. The People Compliance Lead is a critical governance role, accountable for assessing, overseeing, and strengthening compliance across the organisation.
Reporting to a fantastic GM of People & Culture, this position ensures the business meets all People-related legislative, regulatory, payroll, and governance obligations across multiple industrial instruments and jurisdictions.
It plays a central role in identifying risk, conducting gap analysis, implementing controls, and closing any compliance and governance gaps, ensuring their People practices, systems, and payroll operations are compliant, audit-ready, and continuously improving.
The role involves, but not limited to:
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge of existing legislations and keep up to date with new legislation to comply with federal, state, legal requirements; ATO legislation; Fair Work Act; Payroll Tax by state and relevant industry awards; enforcing adherence to requirements and advising the Payroll Manager and GM P&C on required actions
- Update and maintain payroll procedures to ensure best-practice operations and continuous improvement practices
- Support P&C with reconciliations, analytics and audit requirements
- Act as the system expert for iChris, including system maintenance and documentation, award configuration and testing of payroll changes
- The role one direct report.
- Structured, detail-oriented payroll professional who enjoys ownership, accountability and working in a complex, multi industrial instruments environment
- Previous experience as a payroll processor with the ability to transition into a compliance‑focused role
- A strong interest in compliance, auditing, and governance
- High attention to detail, confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive data
- Confident communicator who works well within a team environment.
- Advanced and proven Excel capability
- High attention to detail and confidence working at pace across multiple projects
- Experience managing people (1 direct report)
- Ability to work full-time in the office (inner-city Brisbane suburb)
