People & Culture Manager

Work Type:

Location:

Sydney - NSW

  • End to end HR leadership role
  • Full time | $180,000 + super
  • Blacktown, Sydney | Manufacturing | 4 days onsite, 1 day WFH

About the Company
Our client is a respected manufacturer with a strong footprint across Australia and New Zealand. The Australian workforce is approx. 270 people, the majority of whom are based at the Blacktown site and span manufacturing, distribution, and customer-focused teams. The business is currently evolving its people strategy—embedding a more proactive, forward-thinking approach to workforce capability, culture, and leadership.

About the Role
As the most senior P&C leader on site, you’ll set the tone and steer the people agenda for Australia. This is a broad, hands-on role that spans everything from day-to-day HR operations to delivering business-critical projects. You’ll be supported by an experienced local HRBP, a capable admin team, and a collaborative Head of People & Culture based in New Zealand.

You’ll focus on building capability across frontline managers, coaching leaders to be more confident and self-sufficient, and helping embed initiatives already in flight—like a refreshed leadership framework, an evolving succession plan, and a new skills-based remuneration structure in manufacturing. There’s also important work underway around return-to-work processes and injury management, in partnership with the NZ-based H&S Manager.

About You
You’re an experienced, people-first HR generalist who’s comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial setting. You know how to build credibility quickly, coach operational leaders, and keep the wheels turning while also looking ahead. You’ve likely led EA processes, navigated WorkCover claims, and worked closely with H&S and ops teams.

We’re looking for someone approachable, practical, and proactive—someone who’s just as comfortable leading a leadership roundtable as they are having a chat on the factory floor. A sense of humour, team spirit, and a genuine drive to make things better will go a long way here. Prior experience in manufacturing or heavy industry is a must.

About Culture & Benefits
This is a friendly, down-to-earth work environment. While you’ll be the most senior HR person in Australia, you’ll be well supported by a collaborative and engaged Head of P&C based in New Zealand. The role offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of cultural and leadership maturity within the business.

You’ll be based in Blacktown four days per week, with one day from home and flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle.
