Our client is an ambitious, privately owned business largely supporting the mining industry. They've grown quickly, continue to invest heavily in their future and have big plans for the next five years.
To get there, they need someone to build the people capability that will help them scale.
You'll work directly with the Founder as one of a very small group helping shape the future of the business. There are no layers of corporate bureaucracy; instead, you'll roll up your sleeves, solve problems, attract outstanding people and build the foundations that allow the business to keep growing.
This is a role for someone who loves creating, improving and making things happen.
About the role
A big part of your role will be attracting exceptional talent. You'll partner with the broader business to identify capability gaps, personally recruit key hires and continue building a workforce that can support ambitious growth.
Beyond recruitment, you'll build the people foundations so that they are consistent and support business performance. You will look at improving onboarding, implementing fit-for-purpose HR technology, training and development frameworks where needed, and ensuring the business has the right people, in the right roles, at the right time.
Some days you'll be thinking strategically about the organisation two years from now. Other days you'll be interviewing candidates, helping a leader navigate a people issue or designing a better onboarding experience.
If you enjoy variety, autonomy and seeing the direct impact of your work, you'll love this role.
About You
You're an experienced and ambitious commercial HR specialist who enjoys building rather than maintaining. You have experience working in a greenfield environment, working closely with the business and making things happen. You have ideas and you bring them with energy!
You have experience in a small business where you have had to wear multiple hats. You have experience in operational workforces supporting blue- and white-collar employees, finding practical solutions without relying on a large support team.
You'll bring:
- Strong end-to-end HR generalist experience.
- Experience building people frameworks, processes and systems.
- Commercial acumen and confidence partnering directly with business leaders.
- Energy, resilience and an appetite to get things done.
You'll help shape how the business grows, build a people function from the ground up and become a trusted partner to the business.
As the business expands through growth and acquisition, so too will the role—creating the opportunity to evolve into a broader Group People leadership position, if that is your motivation.
