About Them
We’re partnering with a major Victorian government organisation undergoing a refresh of its People & Culture function to recruit a People Services & Remuneration Lead for an initial 6 month contract.
This newly created role offers the opportunity to shape how People Services operates to support and enable the business - leading two People Services Advisors and driving improvements across HR operations, remuneration processes and service delivery.

About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Partners, this position provides a blend of operational leadership, remuneration expertise, and hands-on problem solving. You’ll lead the day to day people services function, respond to remuneration and classification queries, and help streamline processes to create a more efficient, service oriented model.
Key priorities include:

  • Leading and mentoring two People Services Advisors, acting as their escalation point.
  • Overseeing and advising on all aspects of remuneration – including executive remuneration, classification assessments, and exceptions under the VPS Enterprise Agreement.
  • Interpreting the EA and applying sound reasoning to guide decisions and influence outcomes and enquiries regarding remuneration, including Executive Remuneration.
  • Streamlining people services processes, including the potential introduction of a Helpdesk or ticketing system.
  • Providing pragmatic, timely advice on general HR operations, policies, and employee services.
This role will suit someone who enjoys leading from the front, improving systems, and balancing operational delivery with strategic advisory work.

About You
We’re looking for an HR professional who brings:
  • Previous experience in the Victorian Public Sector and solid understanding of VPS remuneration frameworks and the Enterprise Agreement.
  • Confidence advising on executive remuneration, VIRT processes, and role classifications.
  • Strong HR operations experience and ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Exceptional judgement with the ability to influence, push back respectfully, and provide sound rationale for recommendations.
  • Experience leading or mentoring others within a people services or HR operations function.
Why Apply?
  • Newly created role – opportunity to shape the people services model and influence how it operates going forward.
  • Supportive leadership – report to an open minded senior manager who values collaboration and improvement.
  • Strategic visibility – work closely with senior stakeholders across HR, Finance, and Reporting functions.
  • Future potential – after the 6-month period, the organisation intends to recruit the role permanently.
If you’re a proactive HR professional with strong remuneration knowledge and a passion for improving people processes, we’d love to hear from you.
