Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing HR Advisor who is ready to step up into a Business Partner pathway, taking on increased ownership, stakeholder engagement and exposure to more complex HR matters and working closely with the unions.

Joining a well-established and operationally complex organisation, you will support frontline leaders across a blue-collar, unionised workforce, providing hands-on HR support while developing your capability as a true business partner.

This role is ideally suited to someone who is currently a strong and confident HR Advisor who is ready to step into a more strategic and commercially focused Business Partner remit, or someone who is already operating successfully as an HR Business Partner and is looking for their next opportunity.

The Role

This position will see you partnering closely with operational leaders, providing practical HR advice across a broad generalist remit, with a strong focus on employee relations, performance management and union interaction.
You will be given the opportunity to step beyond pure advisory, taking on more ownership of stakeholder relationships, influencing decision-making, and contributing to broader people initiatives.

Key Focus Areas
  • Provide frontline HR advisory support while stepping into a more partnering-focused role
  • Manage and support ER/IR matters, including performance management, investigations and misconduct
  • Engage confidently with union representatives and industrial stakeholders
  • Support leaders with core HR processes including promotions, transfers, terminations and workforce changes
  • Contribute to workforce planning and operational decision-making
  • Facilitate and support employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, inductions, probation reviews and exits
  • Participate in HR projects, system improvements and broader people initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and influence outcomes at multiple levels of the business

About You
  • 2–4 years’ experience in a HR Advisor or generalist HR role
  • A strong HR Advisor looking to step into a Business Partner role
  • Exposure to blue-collar or unionised environments is essential
  • Solid experience in ER/IR, performance management and workplace investigations
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and partner with leaders
  • Commercial, proactive and solutions-focused mindset
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Brings the right attitude, energy and willingness to step up and take ownership

Key Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related discipline (Bachelor or Diploma)
  • Sound understanding of employment legislation, industrial awards and agreements

Working Environment
  • 4 days in office with 1 day flexibility
  • Fast-paced, operational and highly collaborative team environment
  • Opportunity to work closely with experienced leaders and accelerate your progression into a Business Partner role

In Summary
This role is designed for a high-calibre HR Advisor who is ready for the next step.
If you are looking to transition into a HR Business Partner position, gain exposure to a complex and unionised workforce, and take on greater ownership and influence within the business, this is a strong opportunity to accelerate your career.
